Overview
Challenge-Based Learning places significant demands on learners. Students navigate complex, open-ended problems, coordinate across disciplines, and must take ownership of their own learning, often with limited direct guidance. Technology can play a powerful supporting role here: not by simplifying the challenge, but by scaffolding the processes that make CBL work.
Self-directed learning, formative feedback, and progress monitoring are especially critical. When students are challenged with complex and uncertain assignment, technology can help them stay oriented, reflect meaningfully, and access support at any time anywhere.
In this section, we highlight how technology (clustered around the TU/e DRIVE programme themes) can support your CBL classroom, with relevant research and examples from TU/e practice. Technology moves fast, and therefore these pages stay always in development. If you have input or experiences to share, reach out!
