GraphSearch
Background information
CBL and Self-Directed Learning are fundamental to TU/e’s educational philosophy, emphasizing student autonomy in shaping their learning journey. To support self-directed learning, students must identify their own learning needs, set incremental goals aligned with final attainment levels, and select tasks that facilitate their progress. GraphSearch is highlighted as a valuable tool for efficiently locating relevant educational resources, aiding both individual learners and cross-disciplinary teams in CBL. By enabling easy access to materials from various courses and disciplines, GraphSearch fosters the development of a shared understanding and supports collaborative problem-solving. A pilot with GraphSearch at TU/e started in 2024 will run for about 3 years. Teachers from IEIS are involved in the first pilot, to be continued with other department in the course 2026 and 2027.
Aim of the project
At TU/e, there’s a wide and varied collection of learning materials. Right now, though, most of these resources are only available within individual courses. That means it’s hard for students and teachers to find or reuse materials outside of those specific classes. This makes it difficult for people to share resources across the university, which is especially important for Challenge-based Learning (CBL) and for supporting Self-directed learning. This project is focused on making TU/e’s learning materials easier to find and access.
Results and learnings
The pilot of the project has just started. Results and learnings will be added when they are available.
